Last year marked the first annual Humana Challenge, which brought about significant changes to the tournament formerly known as the Bob Hope Classic. As its centerpiece, the event featured a theme of health and well-being and included a number of activities geared toward challenging people to make small changes that have a big impact on their lives.

In support of this effort, the 2013 Humana Challenge will continue its mission to challenge everyone -- from participating pros, amateurs and celebrities to volunteers, spectators and millions of viewers around the world -- to take an active role in their own well-being.

President Bill Clinton and an all-star lineup of celebrities and pros will again be on hand for some great PGA TOUR golf right here on two of PGA WEST’s heralded Private Courses – the Arnold Palmer Private and Jack Nicklaus Private, with the final round of play being staged on the Palmer Private for more than 17 years.

Plus, take part in the pure fun and lively pursuits throughout Bob Hope Square located near the driving range at PGA WEST. This high-energy venue offers everything from a family fit area with activities like golf hitting nets and putting greens to an array of mouth-watering options from local eateries. Add to that a host of exhibitors, including Humana’s Well-Being Tour plus live music and more.

HUMANA CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

In 2012 the Humana Challenge was restructured to allow for more interaction between amateurs and pros. The revised format now includes a field size of 156 professionals and 156 amateurs. The four-day tournament begins Thursday of tournament week with the first three rounds played in a pro-am format. The pro-am teams will consist of one professional and one amateur. Two pro-am teams will play in each foursome. For each day of the three round pro-am competition, the professional will have a different amateur partner.

PGA WEST will continue to feature two of its heralded Private Courses - The Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus - during The Humana Challenge. The final round will again be staged on the Palmer Private, a proud tradition for more than 17 years.
