Recognized by Golf Digest as one of California’s top instructors, Southern California native Josh Myers began his teaching career in 2005 on the East Coast at the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. Shortly after, he returned to California when he was given the opportunity to advance his training and teach as First Assistant Golf Professional with Jim McLean at PGA WEST® in La Quinta. After eight years teaching in New York and PGA WEST®, Josh transitioned to full-time teaching at PGA WEST® in 2013, where he rose to the position of Lead Master Instructor. In addition to McLean, he has had the privilege to observe and learn from many leading coaches in the game, all of whom have directly influenced his teaching style. They include Carl Welty, Hank Haney, Dr. Craig Farnsworth, Jerry Mowlds, Mitchell Spearman and more. At PGA WEST® Golf Academy, Josh currently teaches alongside three Top 100 instructors: Bryan Lebedevitch, Brady Riggs, and Joe Hallett. His extensive coaching experience includes working with Mirim Lee (2011-2012) who, during that time span on the LPGA of Korea Tour, won the S-Oil Champions Invitational and the Korean Women’s Open. Josh has also coached several junior golfers who have received golf scholarships and gone on to play at UCLA, Universities of Georgia and Idaho, and others. He currently works with Luke Ringkamp, one of the top ranked juniors in California, who recently committed to Pepperdine University. He has also worked with multiple club champions, Southern California Golf Association (SCGA), Future Champions Golf (FCG), and Amateur Tour Champions. During his lessons, Josh utilizes a combination of high-speed video and launch monitors to customize a game plan for improvement. He creates an informative and fun environment for students with lessons that feature a blend of constructive practice time for short and long games, drills to isolate specific areas of the swing, and fundamentals of excellent ball striking. Josh is an avid hiker who has recently discovered the allure of fly fishing. “In a strange way, it’s helped my coaching skills because it’s put me in the role of a beginner,” he explains. “Whether out on the river or on the golf course, there are certain basic skills you have to acquire.”
