Fun Golf Vacations Brings Big Wins, Big Energy to La Quinta
Golfers from across North America brought the heat to the desert this spring for Fun Golf Vacations' 24th Annual Battle in the Desert (April 25-May 2, 2025) and 10th Annual Shootout at PGA WEST (May 3-7, 2025)—and what a time it was!
At PGA WEST, Players battled it out across the legendary Pete Dye Stadium Course, the Nicklaus Tournament Course, and the Pete Dye Dunes and Mountain Courses. The courses were in amazing condition and the competition was tight.
One of the liveliest and most loved events of the week—the afternoon Horse Race—was full of drama, laughs, and clutch golf. Teams were randomly paired by matching the lowest handicap players with the highest, making it anyone's game. Each duo was guaranteed two holes... after that, it was survival of the fittest.
In true Fun Golf Vacations fashion, a Cinderella story emerged: first-time participant Christopher Clapper teamed up with long-time FGVer Rick Cesari, and the pair went on a tear. With pressure mounting and the crowd buzzing, they held off 26 other teams to win the whole thing. Not bad for a Thursday afternoon!
Congratulations to father-son duo Christopher and Andy Clapper, who made an unforgettable debut at the 2025 Battle by firing a blazing net 24-under-par over five rounds to earn Low Net of the Field honor.
Glen Lowe, Fun Golf Vacations' Eric Hoskinson and John Chong
The 2025 Shootout also saw a first-year team rise to the top—congratulations to Glen Lowe and John Chong for carding a red-hot net 13-under-par and claiming Low Net of the Field honors!
