PGA WEST Hosts U.S. Open Local Qualifier on the Palmer Private Course
On Thursday, May 8, PGA WEST® was honored to host the U.S. Open Local Qualifier for the first time—and the event was a tremendous success.
A special thank you goes to our outstanding Private Superintendents and their dedicated teams for presenting the Palmer Course in exceptional condition. The feedback from players and officials was overwhelmingly positive. SCGA Tournament Director Jimmy Becker was so impressed that he inquired about PGA WEST joining the official host rotation within the next two years.
Highlights:
- The event was an 18-hole qualifier held on the Palmer Course.
- The field consisted of 90 highly skilled competitors.
- Mikey Slesinski (-4), son of PGA WEST members Mike and Sharon Slesinski, earned medalist honors. He is coached by Bryan Lebedevitch, Director of Instruction at the PGA WEST Golf Academy.
- PGA WEST member Bobby Poole (+5) had a strong showing and just missed the cut.
- A thrilling five-player sudden-death playoff determined the final qualifying spot and two alternates.
The level of play, professionalism, and sportsmanship on display made for a memorable day!
