Don’t forget to sign up for Guest Day – JINGLE BALL ROCK AT PGA WEST, Tuesday 13 December there is still room. It will be a fun filled day. Also if you are here in the desert sign up for the first LGA Individual event 20 December “Stableford Par Points”.

Just a reminder - Please protect the golf courses by keeping your golf cart a sufficient distance from the greens (30 yards) and by entering and exiting the fairways through the designated gates. Even those with handicap flags should follow these guidelines. Also a reminder for handicap flag holders - Use the 90-degree rule. Drive to your ball, hit your shot, and return to the path with no exception. If you must drive on the course, drive on the fairway NOT in the rough.

Which balls are “in”, and which ones are “out”? The answer lies in what is the significance of the edge of the OB line. The line edge on the course side of the line is the “boundary” --- everything on the course side of that line edge is part of the course. Everything on the “other side” of that line edge is “out of bounds”. If a ball, or any part of the ball is on the course side of that line edge, it is “in bounds”.

Notice that the yellow ball has only a sliver that is over the course side of the line edge – but it is “In Bounds” since a part still touches the course.

When OB is marked with stakes and not lines, essentially everything here applies. The course side of the stakes, at ground level, define the “line” that is the edge of the course. Connect the stakes at ground level, generally visually, and any ball that still extends to/onto the course side of that “line” is still In Bounds”, just like the edge of the painted white line.
