Our Continuing Support is Needed!
US Marine Corps will be accepting toys through this Wednesday,
December 17, 2008!
This is the 16th year PGA WEST has supported the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Their motto says it all:
"Every Child Deserves a Little Christmas."
The Toys for Tots program is the largest and most effective way to get a toy in the hands of a needy child in our own Coachella Valley. The value and success of this program is unsurpassed.
PGA WEST is a substantial part of this effort. As you know, each year we have given a large number of toys. Just as important as the quantity is the high quality of the toys we give. The need for our support is greater than ever.
It is very easy: bring a new, unwrapped toy to our collection site in the Private Clubhouse. The Marines will do the rest. Toys can be for ages Birth to 15 years.
INTERESTED IN HELPING OUT A MARINE?
Dear Members,
Some of you were asking about care packages. Well, we have lots of people out at our remote FOB's (forward operating bases). Most of them have no electricity, proper shelter, running water, and so on. Their biggest needs are razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, liquid detergent (for hand washing their clothes), and hand lotion. They also enjoy getting snacks like candy bars, beef jerky, and what not.
We also send supplies to wounded ANP (Afghan National Police). When you are brought to the hospital, your clothes are cut off and thrown away. Often, these guys’ only clothes may have been their police uniform, or no one from their family is able to get to them to give them clothes to go home in. The same happens for our Marines and Sailors, but we get stuff from the Wounded Warrior Regiments to cover them, because they have to wear green.
Those of you who are interested in sending care packages to the Marines serving in Afghanistan, here are supplies that are needed:
