Safe House Program
“Member Opportunity”

Dear PGA WEST Members,

As PGA WEST prepares to host the 2016 CareerBuilder Challenge, January 18-24, 2016, Desert Classic Charities (DCC) would like to offer you the first opportunity to become a part of this year’s event. Each year, DCC relies on the cooperation and enthusiasm of the PGA WEST community and Club Members to produce one of the PGA TOUR’s signature events, and we would like to offer you the opportunity to become more involved during the event’s first year on the TPC Stadium and Jack Nicklaus Tournament Courses.

As part of the 2016 CareerBuilder Challenge Security and Evacuation Plan, Desert Classic Charities is searching for residents to volunteer their homes as a player safe house. In the case of an on-course emergency, these safe houses will act as a secure location to house PGA TOUR players, amateur players and caddies. In the case of an on-course weather or security emergency, players and their caddies will proceed to the marked safe house until the situation is resolved, or until they are transported back to the clubhouse. The goal of DCC is to have a safe house available on every hole for both the TPC Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament Courses.

This plan will allow DCC to safely evacuate the courses of spectators and volunteers, while providing a safe location for all participants. It also allows PGA WEST Members to potentially host a PGA TOUR player right in your own living room!

To be considered as a viable safe house location, we ask that you live directly on either the TPC Stadium or Nicklaus Tournament Course. We also ask that you have a suitable area on your property to provide safe shelter for eight to ten people. Ideally, we would like the host of the safe house to welcome the players into their home. However, at minimum, we would ask you to provide an enclosed shelter for the players, such as a garage.
