There is still room in the December Guest Day – “Holiday Lights”! You will find the registration form on-line and in the ladies locker room. Rule of the Week
“Most Likely Score” or Equitable Stroke Control?

Q: In Stableford and partner/foursome events, our rules sheets ask, for purposes of pace of play, that when you are out of the hole (at 0 points or your partner/foursome has/have the better score(s)) you pick up and record your most likely score. How is this score determined?

A: From The USGA Handicap System, 4-1/1, “Most likely score is a judgment that each player must make based on the player’s own game. It consists of the number of strokes already taken plus, in the player’s best judgment, the number of strokes needed to complete the hole from that position more than half the time. The player must evaluate each situation based on what the player can reasonably expect to score.

“Finally the player compares the most likely score to the maximum permitted under Equitable Stroke Control and enters the lower of the two. For example, if the most likely score is 8 but the applicable ESC maximum is 7, the player enters a score, for handicap purposes of X-7.” If the most likely score is 6 but the applicable ESC is 7, the player enters a score of X-6.

Record Your Score on Posting Sheet
Please don’t forget to enter your score on the posting sheet which is on the scorer’s table next to the podium at the front of the room. The handicap committee will post all scores (with appropriate format) at the end of the Ladies Golf Association event. To reduce congestion at the scorer’s table the rules sheet asks that one person from the foursome post all scores on the posting sheet however, ultimately each player is responsible for making sure their score is recorded on the posting sheet.

See you on the course!
