This is another in a series of emails describing the MABG Committee structure here at PGAWEST. These Committees join Members and PGAWEST Staff Members together to help manage various functions here at the Club.

The Greens Committee is the Members Advisory Board of Governor’s (MABG) committee focused on the commitment to work with Club Management for the purpose of continuing to improve and enhance the conditions and playability of all six PGA WEST Courses.

Russ Roehrkasse, representing the MABG, is in his third year chairing the Committee. PGA WEST Members on the committee are all residents dedicated to the continued oversight of our most valuable asset at PGA WEST.

PGA WEST Greens Committee Members are:

• Russ Roehrkasse (Chairperson)
• Mark Marcus
• Phil Kaplan
• Jeff Hillebrand
• Judith Young
• Connie Nimis
• Mea Roehrkasse
• George Harmina
• David Eves

The PGA WEST Staff Committee Member is:
Jon Maddern – Director of Agronomy

The Greens Committee typically meets monthly throughout the season. It has the responsibility of working directly with the Agronomy Staff and reporting the information received, reviewed and actions taken to the MABG. The Greens Committee has been involved in, but not limited to, the following activities:

1. Setting up Silver Tees on all of the Private Courses. Starting the end of February, the committee will be placing Silver Tees on the three Resort Courses.
2. We are working with management to develop a Pin Placement Book for each course. This will give the person cutting the cups a clear definition of where (and more importantly where not) to place the cups.
3. Working closely with the Golf Operations Committee on the Good Golfer Program issues affecting course conditions.
4. Reporting information and requests from Members to Management and following up on their completion. Management has established the TurfUpdate.com website to help get Member input and the Greens Committee is copied on all comments.
5. Identifying areas on the courses that require special attention and work with Staff to prioritize projects subject to budget constraints.

The Greens Committee cannot address or request action on issues we don’t know exist. Therefore we encourage your feedback. Please feel free to contact any Greens Committee Member with comments, questions or suggestions. You may also give us feedback at [email protected]. You may obtain Committee Members contact information on the MABG website by clicking on the Greens Committee section on the MABG homepage.
